Disney/Pixar’s Inside Out brought emotions to life – Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Fear and pictured above, Anger.
This little movie provided a wonderful reference for the jumble of emotions we faced this summer as we took our oldest son to college.
Sadness and Joy have played tug-o-war in my mind nearly every day of this new parenting season.
At weekend orientation things got a little intense. My son was naturally dealing with a little bit of Fear. His hesitation unnerved his father and I as we were temporarily blinded the thousands of dollars we’d be forking out for the boy’s education. There may or may not have been an Anger sighting in the Student Center.
We were able to regroup as we named our emotions and tossed a bucket of laughter on Anger’s fiery display.
Over the years I’ve learned to accept anger as just another human emotion. It doesn’t usually get the best of me, but that was not always the case.
